As of January 1, 2021, the Minnesota minimum wage will increase:
- For large employers – eight cent increase from $10.00 to $10.08
- For small employers – six cent increase from $8.15 to $8.21
Definitions:
- Large employers – businesses with annual gross revenues of $500,000 or more ($10.08)
- Small employers – businesses with annual gross revenues less than $500,000 ($8.21)
- Training wages – $8.21 per hour (for any size business) – for employees under 20 years-old, only for the first 90 consecutive days of employment
- Youth wage rate – $8.21 per hour (for any size business) – for employees under 18 years-old
The rising minimum wage is an increase 0.8% to account for inflation. These increases will not apply to work performed in Minneapolis or St. Paul, as they have a higher minimum-wage.
